Rams: Film Screening and Discussion with Director Gary Hustwit

Join Newfields’ Design Arts Society for a screening of Rams, the first feature-length documentary about the life and work of the industrial designer Dieter Rams, and a conversation with its director, Gary Hustwit, whose work includes Helvetica (2007) and Objectified (2009). This newly released film chronicles Rams’s four decades designing for Braun, where he influenced the look and function of most of the consumer products we use today, from alarm clocks to toothbrushes to coffee makers. This documentary includes in-depth conversations with Rams that dive into his philosophy, process, and inspirations. Rams is a design documentary, but it’s also a rumination on consumerism, materialism, sustainability, and the way we live. This event is cosponsored by IDSA Indiana.
